Architect's Design Narratives:

The Puri Casablanca
project was developed as a design/build contract for one of the
largest conglomerates in Indonesia, with Arc
Pac providing design services to the owner through the Schematic
Design phase of the project. The project was conceived for the
burgeoning middle-class homeowner in Jakarta and was developed
to provide efficient, good quality homes for these homeowners.
The apartments configuration reflect the "Hong Kong high-rise
apartment" model following the eight unit floor profiles
that provides the most efficient use of space on a confined site.
By efficiently siting the four 32-story towers, there was abundant
space at ground floor for a wide variety of tenant facilities,
including extensive garden areas, a large swimming pool, health
club, several retail shops and a restaurant. The apartment units
themselves were also provided with an upgraded interior fit-out
package to distinguish themselves from their competitors.
The architectural vocabulary used in the project was a very modern
one to primarily reflect the Owner's intended image for the development,
while still maintaining an architectural harmony with the volumes
of the four towers. The mass of the towers was scaled down by
the use of horizontal banding of the tower facade, while oversized
window openings were provided to create a lighter appearance
for the tower from the street while also providing more internal
daylight and viewing areas for the tenants. The overall image
was intended to create a modern and bold statement on the Jakarta
skyline that identified the complex as a new and different residential
community within the city.
The entire project was built in one phase and was completed in
1998 and has established itself as one of the premier residential
addresses in the heart of the city. |
